What Did You Learn Today?
I hear a people talking about the fast pace of life and how quickly things are changing. It seems like new things come along at a much faster pace than they used to and that if you don’t keep up you’ll get left behind. Well, that is completely true.
With modern technology and media there is much more rapidly evolving information in today’s world. And not keeping up in the business world can spell disaster and leave you and your business irrelevant. So, the question becomes, “what did you learn today?” What have you done keep current and on top of the things you need to know to succeed?
To quote Brian Tracy, “What about you? What are you studying? What is your “major”? What are you working on, preparing yourself for? Those who do not plan for the future cannot have one. Whatever got you to where you are today is not enough to keep you there.”
You need to plan to learn what you need for you, your skills and your business to grow. The way to do this to envision your life, your career and your business in the future and start to figure out what you’ll need to know to get yourself there. And then you need to plan to keep on this course as a way of life. Not all at once, but rather continually.
Take some time and try to picture yourself in five years’ time. What do you want your business to be like? Where do you want to be financially and personally? And most importantly, what skills or knowledge will you need to make sure you get there?
So ask yourself, “what did I learn today?” Make it a habit to ask yourself this every day. Make a plan that involves growing your knowledge every day. Set yourself up to remain relevant and be a leader in your life and your business. Soft plug; this is what I help business owners and leaders do and I’d be glad to talk about it with you anytime.
